You And Me (1990)

“You and Me” is a song that La Toya recorded in 1990. Both it and its Italian counterpart, “Verso L’Ignoto,” performed by Marcella and Gianni Bella, were entered into the 1990 Sanremo Music Festival that took place from February 28 to March 3, 1990.

La Toya wrote the English lyrics to the song in one afternoon, shortly before her performance at the festival.

The song was released in Italy by Sherman Records and Ricordi International, peaking at number 28 on the singles chart. The 7″ single marked the first appearance of “He’s My Brother,” a song recorded for La Toya’s second Teldec album that, at that point, had been shelved.

Lyrics:

I, I didn’t know what real love was
Until I fell in love with you
Now I know that it’s real
Don’t ever leave me

With you I feel the days will never end
Like the river flows, and then
And then you fill my soul
Don’t ever leave me

[Chorus 1:]

You and me, you and me
Let’s love each other always
Hold me closer
Love me, love me
Let’s make it last forever
Let’s make it last forever

[Chorus 2:]
You and me, you and me
Let’s love each other always
Hold me closer
Love me, love me
Let’s make it last forever
Don’t you know our love will never die

Oh no

I, I didn’t know what real love was
Until I fell in love with you
Now I know that it’s love
Don’t ever leave me

[Chorus 1]

[Chorus 2]

Oh no, uh, yeah, yeah

[Chorus 1]

[Chorus 2]

(Oh yeah, I like this)

Hold me closer
Love me, love me
Let’s make it last forever
You know our love will never ever die
